Progress Page (Student/Family Guide)

Updated this week

The Pace and Progress feature in Sora Home gives students and families a clear view of your learning journey. Whether you're in middle school tracking yearly progress or in high school preparing for graduation, this feature highlights important milestones and helps identify areas for growth and improvement.

Progress at Sora is measured by mastery levels in units and abilities. Want to learn more about Sora's curriculum? Check out our guides:

How do I find the Progress page?

You can find your Progress page by clicking My Progress in the left-hand sidebar on Sora Home.

Your Progress page is divided into two tabs:

Progress Tab Overview

The progress tab is divided into different cards, with different indicators for your progress.

Abilities

In the Abilities table, you can track each time you’ve shown mastery of a specific ability. Each time you demonstrate mastery, it gets its own tile, and the icon on the tile shows where you're at with that ability.

Middle School Abilities Table

Here's what the abilities table looks like if you're a middle school student.

When you hover over any tile, you'll see where you demonstrated that ability.

High School Abilities Table

Here's what the abilities table looks like if you're a high school student.

You'll likely see a mix of exemptions and demonstrations. Sora's high school program requires eight demonstrations for each ability as part of our graduation requirements, and this table helps you keep track of your ability demonstrations.

  • Ability exemptions are credit granted for work you did before joining Sora, if you joined after the start of 9th grade.

  • Ability demonstrations (abilities credit you earn in expeditions and other learning experiences while at Sora.

When you hover over any tile, you'll see where you demonstrated that ability, along with your mastery level.

Abilities Table Tiles

Within the abilities table, you'll see the following icons for each tile:

  • Empty square: not started

  • E icon: student is exempt

  • Clear 'loading' icon: student ability demonstration in progress

  • Light purple empty square: Attempted

  • Light purple checkmark: Exposure

  • Mid-purple checkmark: Deeloping

  • Bright purple checkmark: Demonstrating

  • Dark purple star: Extending

Only icons with a checkmark/star (exposure, developing, demonstrating, or extending) indicate credit earned in that ability.

The units card gives a snapshot of units where you've demonstrated mastery.

Here are a few examples of what you might see:

School Year

The School Year card helps you and your family track your progress throughout the academic year.

If you're a middle school student, you'll see each cycle and its associated theme.

You can click into any of these cycles to learn more about your progress that cycle.

If you're a high school student, you'll see each cycle of a given school year along with your unit/ability targets and progress. This shows the number of new units and abilities you've completed in each cycle, with clear markers for your targets, making it easy to see how you're staying on track to reach your academic goals.

You can click on any cycle to jump to your cycle overview.

Cycle Overview

You can also review the unit and ability mastery levels you've demonstrated in past cycles. You'll see a New label will appear next to any new units or ability demonstrations you've completed.

The Reports tab has links to download your past mid-cycle and end-cycle reports.

If a report is ready, you'll see a link to download it as a PDF. If a report isn’t available yet (like for future cycles), it will be labeled as not available yet.

Can I download my transcript from the page?

Middle School students need to request their transcripts from their School Director - if you're in Middle School, you can start this process by reaching out to your House Advisor.

If you're a High School student or parent/guardian, you can access and view unofficial transcripts in the Progress tab, under the graduation progress section of the progress page.

You won't be able to download an official transcript from your Progress page. To request an official transcript, you'll need to contact our registrar team - learn more: Requesting an Official Transcript
