Terms to Know
Faculty Office Hours: Time Sora faculty members are available to support students with tasks and projects.
House Meetings: Scheduled time with a students’ house mates and advisor
Spark Sessions: Held concurrently with office hours, these weekly sessions are led by Sora faculty to foster academic curiosity in a fun and supportive environment.

School Holidays
Sora's master schedule accounts for holidays listed in our School Year calendar. Sora Home's calendar accounts for these holidays when building student schedules each cycle.

On school holidays, including faculty PD days and breaks between cycles, students are not expected to attend any school meetings. This includes expedition sessions, house meetings, assemblies/checkpoints, or office hours.
Expedition schedules (2026-27 SY)
Expeditions meet during:
Expedition Block 1: 9:00 - 9:50am ET
Expedition Block 2: 10:00 - 10:50am ET
Math Block 1: 11:00 - 11:50am ET
Expedition Block 3: 1:30 - 2:20pm ET
Math Block 2: 2:30 - 3:20pm ET
Expedition Block 4: 3:30 - 4:20pm ET
Office Hours
Office hours take place on Thursdays in correspondence with expedition blocks.
Office Hours provide a dedicated time for Sora students to interact with STEM and Humanities Experts, as well as House Advisors. During these open periods, students have the opportunity to engage with faculty in a flexible and informal setting.

House meeting schedules
Student houses meet every weekday from 12:00 - 12:45pm ET (except Wednesdays). On Wednesdays, houses meet from 12:00 - 12:20pm ET.
Community Wednesdays
Expeditions do not meet on Wednesdays. Community based activities, clubs, events, etc. occur on Wednesdays. Below is an outline of what is typically provided, but adjustments can be made throughout the year to respond to student interests and schedules.
House meetings are shorter on Wednesdays to accommodate additional office hours meeting time.
Student clubs meet in three blocks throughout the day on Wednesday.
School Assemblies
School assemblies take place in place of house meetings on some Tuesdays from 12:00 - 12:45pm ET. During assemblies, students are able to hear announcements from their peers, School Directors, Dean, and faculty.
Spark Sessions
Spark sessions are offered on Thursdays.
Spark Sessions are designed as open spaces where students can show up ready to learn about an interesting topic. There are no tasks or assessments connected to these sessions, just the joy of learning something new.
